Valentine's Day

(In Terza Rima)

The Valentine myth has never been lost
For the legend with us forever lies
Served with love, we take it at any cost.

What is that glow that shows in Cupid’s eyes?
To cause deep emotions to spring alive
Forever high in space the arrow flies.

Come February Eros will arrive
To begin the magical play of hearts
And many love portions it will contrive.

For the bow is set with bounteous darts
Searching for Juliet this, Romeo
With Lydgate’s passion notes, the path it charts.

Bought from stores red roses and cameo
And off they go to the targeted soul
These packaged feelings from the post do flow.

The day has come, and I’m out of control;
A fanciful moon in orbital haste,
The grandeur of love around us doth roll.

The passion burns as we savour the taste.
This moment in our lives we’ll never waste.

  1. Dear Paterika

I enjoy your poetry and find a delightful freshness to your verse.

Thanks for cmmenting on my blog. I appreciate that.

We should have a gentle competition. After all I am a cricketer too and the West Indies and New Zealand enjoy competing. We choose a 3 or 4 liner and write on a topic we choose for each other.

Want to take up the chsallenge ?

Warm greetings my dear poet laureate and keep up your inspiring and creative poetry.

Yes, indeed let's have a gentle competition.

How about writing Terza Rima Sonnet series on any aspect of the game of cricket? I'll send you by e-mail those topics I have decided to write on. You would in return send me your topics.

    Cheers
    Paterika
