The Nest
Great chicks are in the nest
With heads, chest, legs and breast
Come in friends, says the wren
Click-cluck-click sings the hen
Poesy quills fill the pen.
Fresh whole eggs pass the test
You select and are blessed
Come in friends, says the wren
Click-cluck-click sings the hen
Poesy quills fill the pen.
Cockatoos like to jest
Picking grains are the best
Come in friends, says the wren
Click-cluck-click sings the hen
Poesy quills fill the pen.
Add sense with no nonsense
Google logs must not rest
Come in friends, says the wren
Click-cluck-click sings the hen
Poesy quills fill the pen.
Google clicks are the best
Feed the mix full of zest
Come in friends, says the wren
Click-cluck-click, sings the hen
Poesy quills fill the pen.

ReplyDeleteA very innovative twist in this poem. The last two verses are superb and make me cluck like a chick. Maybe I am a chick ?
I a, learning from your structure and juxaposition (sp!) of themes.
Congratulations to the WI. They beat NZ last night. Sarwan played well but under Gayles great leadership. What a wonderful man !

Kia ora Paterika,
ReplyDeleteI find myself trying to sing this poem for some reason. Just lovely.
Glad to see you are reading Bob's book, I find it very informative, funny and moving, a lot like your own works.
Thanks for stopping by, it has been a busy holiday, though a fun filled one. I am now getting the family ready for a couple days of camping by a lovely river. Then back to work! Paterika, Happy and Blessed New Year to you. I look forward to following your place here with great joy!
Aroha,
Robb
Delightful and entertaining. You have to publish these poems !
ReplyDeleteI am familiar with the Google clicks but we are also thinking about getting some hens. On our travel around the South Island we saw several Cockatoos in the Averies of the botanic gardens.
Still a Happy New Year Paterika. Hope to enjoy many more of your delights
