Police wives from across Bimshire island;
Without doubt, Grace called them to come on out;
At Weymouth grounds, plenty words lips did spout
on ways, to complement their Police Force;
By charitable deeds, they did enforce.
Plank by plank wives built up foundation’s base;
Welded talents rose from kitchen table;
And keenly cabinet did assemble
on March twenty-six, nineteen eighty-four;
Birth PWA, first on this shore.
Pledging their friendship, unity and strength;
Wives of Bajan policemen formed this club;
And this association is their hub
of grand, charitable activities;
Blending their zeal and sensitivities;
Proudly wives wear their pin of allegiance;
Where’re they go standing out in the crowd;
As “Image” pens their thoughts, their ovens shroud
out baked treats, serve up for the common good;
Brimming plates and thoughts each cheer as they could;
Pantries stock scholarships with welfare plates;
With head, heart and soul running together;
All hands working together, they weather
on the twenty-fifth reach, still growing years;
Bonded by those goals of its pioneers.

This poem is in the form of an acrostic with quintet verses. A stanza made up of five verses is called a quintet. The title of this poem is in the form of an abbreviation and brings to mind some kind of puzzle. However, the poem provides many clues in its imagery for cracking the puzzled title which stands for: Police Wives Association of Barbados.
The title is made up of four capital letters and a lower case letter. This is acceptable because orthography would have it that you mix capital letters and lower case , without periods, capital letters usually for lexical words, lower case letters for grammatical words.

Kia ora Paterika,
Always enjoy my visits here, and always coming away knowing a little bit more about poetry and words. Good to know there are organizations formed for good deeds that are still going. 1984 is a while ago now so congratulations to the PWAoB. Kia kaha and peace to you my friend.
Aroha,
Robb
