(in Acrostic)
Single and endearing acts perfectly carried out;
Insatiable desire to transform conditions for the masses;
Recounting his political brilliance, herein, out, and all about.
Grey's Inn molded his mindset to lifting poor masses from stirring molasses;
Reshaped the landscape; equal opportunities for all Barbadians before they die;
Abolished strangled grip of mercantile elite and plantations' iron fists;
Never again on his watch would colonial masters eat all the pie;
Turned the rite for poor masses to rub elites' shoulders equally in voting booth;
Legacy of this great "Liberator" in singled hand political move;
Every Barbadian with land or not the right to vote at twenty-one;
Yes, he gave universal adult suffrage despite dangerous path for himself and family.
Hail the man our "Moses" and the "Father of the Nation" our grateful icon born;
Economic advancement Bajans enjoy the "Great Liberator" of the ninety-fifties;
Rebuilt and rearranged the plants; "Father of Democracy" whose seeds bloomed in the sixties;
Better can be done and will be done with tools he fashioned for the nation;
Everyone of thems' lips first sucked the honey dripping from the bees
Resistance was no deterrent for this brilliant and articulate Caribbean Leader and Lawyer;
Trinidad and Jamaica frienemies jealous of his shoes laced his sweet tea with fleas,
And aborted his goal, the first Prime Minister of the West Indies Federation;
Dedicated he was for all Barbadians and the Caribbean, Queen Elizabeth knighted him;
At age seventy-three we mourned our hero, and named Airport after him on isle's south rim;
Memories of this great son of the soil do live in our minds and hearts;
Statesman he was; his statue sits at Government Headquarters as testament.
