Ra Whanau Ki A Koe

(Hendianne Sonnet for a special penpal)

Sleep winter, spring has now arrived today
In Bimshire, the next day is Good Friday
But there is this matter I must convey
To him, in Indonesia, far away.

He is a cricketer and mountaineer
A Kiwi too, and Red Cross volunteer
His birthday falls on Good Friday this year
With Nowruz too, good karma, I declare.

This much I know about his birthday bash
A trek up the Volcan, Bob takes a dash
Comes Holy Week, of sable cloth and ash
The "Sermon on the Mount" on him, does flash.

My time zone behind his; and that is true...
Still I say best wishes from me to you.

  1. Dear Paterika

I was so moved to read a poem dedicated to me. It is so kind of you and it warms my heart and soul that someone cares.

Look after yourself and again, many thanks
